Born October 27, 1943 and taken unexpectedly on July 12, 2013, leaving behind his broken hearted wife of 25 years, Kathy; two children: David and Gudrun; step-son, Marek (Tori) and their two children, Stella and Zoe.
Services will be on August 10, 2013 at 3 p.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 2391 St Marks Way, Sacramento 95864. Reception immediately following.

Oh my sweet Alan.... I guess it is because fall is here, and I miss snuggling with you in the cooler weather. Or because your birthday is in four days. Or because I looked at a lot of pictures and was flooded with memories of our life together.
I just miss you SO much today....but again, am thankful it was quick and easy for you.

Dearest Kathy,
Ever since hearing this news you have daily been in my thoughts and prayers. I know that the spiritual bond that the two of you love birds had with one another cannot be broken. I pray that the Holy Spirit will show you in physical ways that Alan is ever present with you and will always be near. The riches that he invested in your life can not be diminished by his untimely passing. Your many, many friends love you and are here for you.

This is one of the most beautiful tributes I have ever read. Kathy, my heart goes out to you and Marek, Tori and the kids, and to Alan's children. I very well remember the twinkle in Alan's eye. He was an incredibly gentle soul, and such an easy person to be around. What a fabulous, complementary couple the two of you made! Wrapping you tightly in love from afar. I worked with Alan at the County in the early 80's in SIPS. He was a great co-worker that I remember fondly. Last time I saw him was at the Jazz Fest with his family having a great time. I am so sorry for you loss.
