Byrd, you called me before your surgery - I think you were worried and/or scared. I think maybe perhaps, even you knew.
I had just gotten sober and you were very excited for me. You showed a huge interest in joining me at meetings and such.
We didn't keep in touch.
Looking back now I see your call as one you had to make in the event that you might not be able to talk to me again.
I commend you for your honesty in that moment.
You were and always will be my high school sweetheart.
