FORT CARSON, Colo. - Army Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Bader, 28, of Fort Carson, Colo., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, in military combat in Iraq.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer with the Rev. Robert Schilling officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer with military rites by the Fort Riley Military and Burton-Beyer Post 120.
Visititation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
Sgt. Bader was born Sept. 26, 1975, in York to Roger and Lona (Lorenzen) Bader. He attended Willard Elementary School and participated in Cub Scouts and the Awana program.
When he was 10, his family moved to Colorado Springs, where he attended Frontier Elementary School, Challenger Middle School, Timberview Middle School and Liberty High School. He graduated in 1994. In school, he participated in football, wrestling and track. He later earned an associate's degree in general education from Pikes Peak Community College.
He joined the Colorado National Guard in 1993 and enlisted full-time in the Army in 1995. He was assigned to the ADA Battery, 1st Squadron, 3rd Armor Calvary Regiment. Before going to Iraq, he completed a yearlong tour of Duty in Korea.
On March 20, 1998, he married Tiffany Minissale.
Sgt. Bader enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid fan of Nebraska football and NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Taryn Makenzie Bader; his parents; a brother, David (Rebecca) Bader of Columbia S.C.; and his paternal grandmother, Katherine Bader of Grand Island.
