MADISON - David R. Bartak, 53, of Madison, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the University Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Madison. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 35, VFW Post 5763, and the Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today at Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison.
David was born on Oct. 17, 1955, at Schuyler, the son of Robert and Evelyn (Prchal) Bartak. He attended rural district 6 and attended Madison High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1972 to 1979. David married Veronica Thompson on June 29, 1985, at the Trinity United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Madison as he did manufacturing work for Behlen Mfg. Co and IBP, and then drove truck for numerous years. He was a past member of the Presbyterian Church in Madison.
David is survived by his wife, Veronica Bartak of Madison; mother, Evelyn Bartak of Madison; two sons, Jeremiah Bartak and fiancée Kerry Garver, Josh Bartak and his girlfriend Kylee Zurcher; one daughter, Jami Bartak; and one very precious granddaughter, Kaylee Nichole Bartak all of Madison; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Terry Bartak of Omaha, Ronald and Donna Bartak of Madison; three sisters, Diane Scheffler of Columbus, Donna and her husband Keith Wurdeman of Columbus, and Deb and her husband Tim Koenig of West Point. He was also survived by his nieces and nephews and his best friend (Bisket) his pet dog.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Gary; one sister, Mary Ann; and one brother-in-law, Gene Scheffler.
