Don Zimmer Obituary
Donald A Zimmer was born on October 24, 1950, in Columbus, NE to LaVern and Elsie (Longworth/WW2 English warbride) Zimmer.
Don graduated from Columbus Senior High School in 1969. In December of 1970, he married Kathy Sinner in Columbus, NE. To this union, a son, Joshua was born.
They resided in Albuquerque, NM for 4 years, whereby Don learned the trade of a Mason. He and Kathy divorced and Don moved back to Nebraska temporarily.
Don was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker Football Fan and attended several football games. He loved music, especially the Beatles and Jon Fogerty. While back in Nebraska, he met Cindy Harsh Kluever. They were married on June 3, 1988 in LasVegas. Don's work took him to Mesa, AZ, where he worked for several companies as a Mason, and did tile work for Swim Pools in the AZ area. He became disabled with severe arthritis and had to quit his job. While living in AZ, Don & Cindy became legal guardians of Vanessa Went. His wife, Cindy, passed away on March 10, 2019.
After her death, Don relocated to Poolville, TX and lived with his sister, Karen Nixon on her ranch.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Columbus, Nebraska in mid October.

Brother-in-law - Ron Peterson, Fosston, MN
Sister - Beverly (Dave) Kudron, Bellwood, NE
Sister - Christine (Ken) Wolfe, Omaha, NE
Sister - Debra (Jerry) Buggi, Columbus, NE
Sister - JoAnn (Mark) Kruse, Omaha, NE
Sister - Karen (special friend, Elwin) Nixon, Poolville, TX
Stepdaughter - Heather Wendt, York, NE
Stepdaughter - Lindsey Kluever, Mesa, AZ
Step-Granddaughter - Vanessa Went
Several Nieces & Nephews, and Step-Grandchildren
Don was preceded in death by:
Parents LaVern & Elsie Zimmer
Sister: Gail Peterson
Wife - Cindy Zimmer

To All Of Donnie´s Family, my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I have been a friend of your family for so very many years and have fond memories of spending time at your house when we were all much younger! I always enjoyed visits with Don when he was back in Columbus. I know he was "special" to each one of you and he will be missed. I also have met and visited with Josh a time or two and my sympathy to Josh as well. I know how proud Don was of his son. RIP DONNIE

Donnie, I have comfort in knowing that you have reunited with all our family that have gone before you. Your free of pain your body dealt you to live with every day .Now you will have no worries only eternal rest. You will continue leaving us here below many fond memories wrapped up tight in all our hearts. You always called me Debbie, one thing you left me to hold onto forever. Your love for all your family will always shine through like a bright star in the sky. Oh how we will miss you. Your spirit will always be forever near.
