PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Gerald R. "Jerry" Haller, 74, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at ORMC, Orlando, Florida, after a three-plus-year battle with colon cancer.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated in his memory at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either St. Vincent de Paul Sacred Heart Conference or Hubbard House, Orlando, Florida.
Gerald R. "Jerry" Haller was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Campbell. Jerry graduated from Tri State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and from Missouri S&T with a master's in engineering management. He retired from Boeing (McDonnell Douglas) in St. Louis after 30-plus years. He also started a consulting firm and worked for two startup airplane companies as well as Al Engineering. Jerry loved sailing, skiing and running. He was an active member of the Punta Gorda Sailing Club for many years.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Kay Hoffmeyer; two children, Phil Haller and Laura Bontty; four grandchildren, Frannie and Ethan Haller and Jackson and Austin Bontty; and two sisters, Roxine Campbell and Ramona Winkeller.
