COLUMBUS -- Gerri 'Gerri' George, 89, of Columbus, died Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Bryan LGH in Lincoln.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Reverend Joseph A. Miksch will be officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 8-10 a.m. also at the funeral home.
Geraldine 'Gerri' George was born August 31, 1923, in Glenrock, Wyo., to Mack and Zella (Stevens) Hattel. She grew up in San Diego, Calif., before moving to David City. Gerri worked at Dale Electronics 11 years and the Silver Dollar Lounge for 12 years. She also owned and operated the Long Horn Liquors in Estes Park, Colorado, for five years. Gerri enjoyed playing cards, bingo, doing crafts and spending time with family. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Dick) Schmidt, of Lakeport, Calif.; daughter, Janet Centineo, of OmahaE; son, Bob George, of Columbus; daughter, Judi (Frank) Werhanawicz, of Kewaskum, Wis.; son, Don George, of Columbus; daughter, Vickie Crumley, of Columbus; son, Rick (Jane) George, of Columbus; daughter, Connie (Jeff) Galley, of Columbus; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Zella Hattel; infant son; grandson, Don George; granddaughter, Lori Hagan; and four infant great-grandchildren.
