Joan Tomlin Obituary

Joan "Jo" Marie Tomlin

August 7, 1943 - March 10, 2025

Joan "Jo" Marie Tomlin passed away peacefully under hospice care on March 10, 2025 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jo was born on August 7, 1943 in David City, Nebraska to Harry and Anna Reisdorff. She was one of 5 siblings who grew up on a farm acquired by The Homestead Act of 1862. This family farm is still one of the oldest farms in Nebraska today that has been continuously held by one family since its inception. She met her husband Cordell "Corkey" Tomlin in Omaha, Nebraska in 1968. They were married in Chicago, Illinois, where they lived for 1 year before moving to Fountain Hills, Arizona in 1972, where they had two daughters Cristi and Kari. The family moved back and forth between Colorado and Arizona their entire lives pursuing farming and real estate development, but Jo always considered Arizona her home. A music teacher and pianist, Jo was always involved in sharing her love for music, either in the classroom or in attending musicals, plays, and performances with her loved ones. She made sure her daughters had the important life skills to cook, sew, and play music, but she also encouraged them to think deeply and pursue their passions. She had a great eye for beauty, and she loved shopping at antique stores, farm auctions, and art fairs for the jewelry and art that filled her home. Jo is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Anna Reisdorff and her sister Nancy Scullion. She is survived by her husband Corkey, her daughters Cristi Lewis and Kari King, her sister Janie Harding, her brothers Jim Reisdorff and John Reisdorff, and her 5 grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
