John Schmitz Obituary

John Ray "Jack" Schmitz, 82, of Clarkson, Nebraska, passed away on September 4, 2025.

Born January 8, 1943, Jack served in the U.S. Navy and later retired as Clarkson Postmaster after a long career with the U.S. Postal Service. He and his wife, Lois, shared 58 years of marriage and raised two sons.

Jack loved sports-especially football, fast-pitch baseball, and golf-and was a dedicated Nebraska Huskers fan. He coached Little League, led Boy Scouts, and played piano in the band Coldshot.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; sons Greg (Marge) and Doug (Lori); granddaughter Jenna (Tom); brother Dan; sisters Patricia, Bonnie, and Betty; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Maple Ridge Retirement Community in Omaha, with a reception to follow. Military burial will be at a later date.

Jack's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
