FULLERTON - Madelynne M. Black, 82, of Fullerton, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Private family services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Public services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Fullerton, with the Rev. Valjean Warman officiating. Burial is at the Fullerton Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Black was born May 31, 1923, in Omaha. She was adopted by Fredrick D. and Gertrude (Diers) Fuller in 1923. She grew up in Fullerton. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1941 and from Colorado Women College in 1943.
She married Dale Black Oct. 24, 1943, in Fullerton. She worked in the family grocery store for several years. She taught Sunday School, Youth Fellowship and swimming lessons.
She was a member of the church, where she served on the finance committee and the pastor/parish committee. She was a member of the Circle Martha of United Methodist Women, donating food and serving several funeral dinners. She was also a member of PEO and Eagles Auxiliary, where she was involved in several fundraising activities for the community. She was a previous member of the Presbyterian Church. She served on the 4-H Council and assisted with the FFA. She received the F Award from the FFA. She volunteered at the Blood Drive. She served on the board of the Senior Center and the Lucille Burch Foundation for Animal Companions. She helped organize the Animal Compassion Fund. She enjoyed animals, traveling, bowling and bingo.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Robert) Solick of Leavenworth, Kan.; one sister, Pat Brigham of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in January of 1997; and one daughter, Diana Crites.
Memorials may be directed to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Animal Companion Fund or the Lucille Burch Foundation.
