DAVID CITY -- Mark Hecker, 53, of David City, died August 12, 2014, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Aquinas HS Gymnasium, in David City, with Reverend David Palomaki officiating. Committal will be in the David City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Kracl Funeral Chapel, continuing Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Aquinas.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the overwhelming support they are receiving and due to the large number of people attending Mark's services, there will be no lunch following the committal service.
Mark was born August 9, 1961, in Columbus, to Erwin and Betty (Louis) Hecker. He graduated from David City High School in 1979 and later earned an associate's degree from Northeast
Nebraska Community College. He entered law enforcement in Humphrey at the age of 19. Mark later worked for the David City Police force and joined the Sheriff's office in 1988. He has served as the Butler County Sheriff since 1999. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, in David City, the Sheriff's Association of Nebraska, David City Rotary, Teammates, David City Booster Club and delivered Meals on Wheels. Mark was very devoted to his granddaughters and loved spending time with family. In his "spare time" he also served with Signal 88 at Husker games.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Hecker, of David City; five daughters, Tiffany (Dustin) Heins, of David City, Staci (Shane) Anderson, of Pierce, Kirby Hecker, of Waverly, Rebecca Hecker, of David City, and Melanie Hecker, of Omaha; son, Michael Beck, of Grant; one sister, Peggy (Mike) Reese, of Seward; two brothers, Steve Hecker, of Norfolk, Mike (Jeanie) Hecker, of Seward; and his five granddaughters, Bella and Harlow Heins, Kenley and Kambree Anderson, Haelyn Holcomb; nieces and nephews; and all his colleagues in law enforcement.
He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Jason Alexander; and grandparents, George and Ethel Louis and Fred and Lena Hecker.
