Raymond Daniel Navratil
December 1, 1948 - August 15, 2024
Raymond Daniel Navratil passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on August 15, 2024, after a 20-year battle with cancer. Born on December 1, 1948, Ray grew up on a farm near Bee, Nebraska, where he developed a deep love for rural life.
A devoted family man, Ray cherished his grandchildren, Finn, Beckett, and Eleanora Margaret. He loved spending time with his sons, cared deeply for his siblings, and never missed an opportunity to get together with his numerous cousins. Ray is now reunited with loved ones who passed before him, including his parents, Raymond and Mary Navratil, his brother David, and his baby daughter, Kari Lynn.
Ray graduated from Archbishop Bergan in 1967 and completed trade school in Milford, Nebraska. His passion for working with his hands was evident in his career in construction and his love for refurbishing antiques. He found joy in simple pleasures, like eating watermelon on a hot day, attending Czech-fests, or listening to classic rock & roll.
During his last years at Brookestone of Papillion, Ray made new friends and served as resident council president. His radiant smile and grace in facing health challenges inspired many. He is survived by his sister Karen Dolezal, brothers Loren and Rob Navratil, his sons Keith and Kevin Navratil from his marriage to Mary Lou (Blacklock) Navratil.
Visitation was held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Omaha at 9:30 am on Wednesday, August 21, and was followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am. Inurnment took place at 3 pm at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Bee, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Urea Cycle Disorder Foundation are appreciated.
