Regina "Gina" M. Fechter

June 9, 1976 - May 19, 2025

Gina Fechter passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Vienna, VA. Gina and her daughter traveled from Omaha to Virginia to visit friends. Her loss will leave a hole in many hearts.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil, all at the Church. Interment is in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery.

Gina was born in 1976 in Omaha to Bill and Karen Rongisch. They later moved to Columbus, NE, and welcomed siblings Brent in 1979 and Michelle in 1981. She graduated from Scotus Central Catholic High School in 1994 and later graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In 1995, Gina met Thomas Fechter at UNL. They married in 1997 at the USMC Chapel in Quantico. They relocated to Pensacola, FL, Corpus Christi, TX, and then spent ten years in Austin, TX. She volunteered at the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and later took pride in her work as the Capitol Improvements Project Manager for the Engineering Department for the City of Pflugerville, TX.

Their son Aidan was born in Austin in 2004. In 2009, they moved to Brooklyn, NY, where Tom worked for the U.S. Department of Justice. Their daughter, Catherine "Katie" Fechter, was born in Manhattan in 2011. They lived on Fort Hamilton, NY, Scotch Plains, NJ, and Oakton, VA, for nine years.

In 2024, after living away from Nebraska for 28 years, Gina and her family moved back to Omaha.

Gina is survived by her husband of 28 years; her children, Aidan and Katie Fechter, her parents, Bill and Karen Rongisch of Columbus, NE, sister Michelle (Ryan) Burnett of St Joseph, MO, their children, Owen and Oliver, Gina's grandmother, Helen Kieffer of Omaha, NE, her mother in law Pat Fechter, Byron, MN, her sister in-law Jane (Craig) Erickson of Byron, MN, and their children Isabelle and Nathan.

Preceding her in death were her brother, Brent Rongisch, her Grandparents, Vince Kieffer, and Paul and Lois Rongisch, and her father-in-law, Richard Fechter.
