SPEARFISH, S.D. - Thomas L. Liddy, 88, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at Spearfish, S.D.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Federated Church in Columbus.
Mr. Liddy was born Feb. 9, 1916, to Thomas and Goldie Liddy. Throughout his high school years, he excelled in sports. He worked for Montgomery's Hardware in O'Neill and later for Burgess Battery.
He married Iris Pharris on July 10, 1938. They lived in Lincoln prior to moving to Long Pine. In 1942, he was hired as a storekeeper with Consumers Public Power District in the Columbus district office. He was named stores supervisor in 1943 and promoted to billing department supervisor in 1946. In 1950, he was named billing department and IBM supervisor and in 1953, he was promoted to district accountant working out of the O'Neill office. In 1961, he was transferred back to the Columbus general office to assume the position of tabulating supervisor. When the Nebraska Public Power District was formed, he was promoted to computer services manager and three years later to director of computer services where he served until his retirement in February 1981.
Following his retirement, they moved to their son's ranch north of Taylor. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include one sister, Anita Boettcher of Kennewick, Wash.; three daughters, Judy (Dan) Farrington of Spearfish, Colleen (John) Groth of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Tanny Liddy of Omaha; one son, Mike (Deana) Liddy of Omaha; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
