For those of you unfamiliar with his creative aeronautical genius...this was his final project: a small, light-weight, personal aircraft that could be home-built for under $3,000 and flown without a pilot's license. Brian was a true genius, one of a very few men who come along whose abilities change the world.

I was privileged to know and to interview Brian for publication in the (Hernando, MS) CLICK magazine. I found him outgoing, personable and very knowledgeable. His devotion to flight, both professionally and privately, made him an obvious subject for highlighting in the publication. He was an extremely accomplished man of many and varied abilities and talents, and he will be missed. Especially by those in the arena of flight.

I only knew of Brian Austein from a YouTube video of his beautifully Engineered self designed and built WoodPecker Airplane. I am so saddened to learn of his passing. My heart goes out to his wife and young son. I sincerely hope that his family finds the strength to remember him as such a southern gentleman full of life and his love of flying. Much Love and Condolences to the family.

Brian always had a smile for everyone. His ingenuity & innovative persona were unbelievable. He will be sorely missed. He was taken far too young.

So sorry to hear of the lose of my young friend that we used to call "zipper"while working at Action Hobby back in late 80's or early 90's. So many great memories of us flying remote control airplanes back in the late 80's when he was I think still in High School. He was one of the most polite young men I ever met. He was so smart about airplanes even when he was just a kid and I was not surprised with all his accomplishments . Even though he grew up and I did not see him for many years, I kept up with him through my friends, his uncle & aunt Lynn & Pam (Austein) White. Brian touched many lives and he will be very missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace my friend...Bobby Payne (Senatobia, Ms)
