Emily Evans Byrd, age 70, of Bartlett, TN died March 6, 2018 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
Emily Evans was born April 8, 1947 in Jackson, TN to John M. Evans and Evelyn Hunt Evans. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and Union University. At Union, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and received her B.S. in Sociology in 1969. She married Anthony T. Byrd on February 23, 1974.
Emily made her career in social work for the for the Tennessee Department of Human Services for over 30 years. A lifelong gardener, crafter, and avid dog lover, she also enjoyed movies, baking, and mystery novels.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by daughters Adrienne Byrd Myers of Bartlett, TN and Laura Byrd Daniels of Oakland, TN; brother John Evans of Jackson, TN; Grandchildren Sidney and Evan Myers and Forrest Daniels; and sons-in-law Johnny Myers and Chris Daniels. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband.
Visitation will be March 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Forest Hill East, located at 2440 Whitten Road Memphis, TN 38133 with funeral services on March 9 at 10 a.m. at the same location.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis Animal Shelter, or Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
