Francis D. Hooks,
I wanted to express my sadness to you and your family, I just thought about you today and I called Memphis and I was informed of your passing. You were my high school counselor when I attended Carver High School. I remember talking to you about many things, and you always told me to keep moving forward and seek the good. The memory of those words still are with me today. You loved people and you always worked hard to share that theory with kindness.. I remember when Reverend Ben Hooks came into your office, I told you "he's nice two". You were the stairways that help me to move forward. and I listened, I was obedient and I trusted in my guidance counselor. I can only say THANK-YOU, and I would like to let you know that I have continued to move forward and most of all help others to move forward in kindness. You will be missed, however the words of wisdom that you left me are the words of kindness and the desire to help others to go in the same direction.

The family has our deepest sympathy during this difficult time. I met Mrs. Hooks on the first day that I stepped in Carver High as a 7th grader. She was a very dear person to all students and to us as a Guidance Counselor during our 12 years. Rev. Hooks was our Baccalaureate Speaker in '65 when we graduated.
Your Family remains in our thoughts and prayers.

I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the Hooks family in your time of sorrow. As a retired School Counselor, I was honored to work with Mrs. Hooks and the Memphis Prep Program because this unique opportunity allowed many high school students to experience the world of higher education. I will always cherish my memories of Mrs. Hooks, for her love and passion as a guidance counselor definitely inspired and motivated me to provide the best counseling services to our students.

When my daughter and I moved to the area and started attending Middle Baptist, Mrs Hooks as well as reverend Hooks made us feel welcomed and at home. We were not frowned upon because we did not have proper church attire. I will sadly miss u both, but glad you are together once again.
