Francis Walton Obituary

FRANCIS ELIZABETH SITTER WALTON, 94, passed away, on Saturday June 7, 2008 at Avante Nursing Home in Eustis Florida. Visitation will be Friday at 1 p.m. followed by Service at 2 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh La Grange Road. Elizabeth was born in Burnside Kentucky, February 12, 1914 and moved to Harriman, Tennessee as a young child. After high school, she worked for AT&T as a long distance operator. In 1933 she married James Joseph Sitter and moved to Memphis and had two sons. When her first husband died, she went to work at Dixie Auto Parts and later, Memphis Auto Parts as a bookkeeper. She took up dancing at Arthur Murry Dance Studios and earned many awards and trophies for her ability as a Ballroom dancer. She married Mr. Joe C. Walton and they settled in Apopka Florida. She joined the First Baptist Church of Apopka and taught Sunday School until they moved to Branford, Florida and finally moved again to Eustis Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Ruth Mann, a sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Harvey Conner, a son, Joseph Matthew Sitter and a first husband, James Joseph Sitter. She is survived by a son, James D. Sitter and daughter-in-law Martha Ann Sitter ofMillington, another daughter-in-law Roberta Sitter Russell; three grandsons, James Allen Sitter of Millington, William Joseph Sitter of Brentwood and Mark Sitter of Memphis; and one great-granddaughter, Danielle Cooley in Brentwood, Tennessee. She has a second family in Eustis, Florida, her husband, Joe C. Walton, his son Jack and daughter-in-law, Margie Walton, their children, grandchildren and the care givers at the Avante nursing home.
