George Anderson "Butch" Pinner

Covington, TN

George Anderson "Butch" Pinner, September 7, 1945 - July 3, 2016. Born in Covington TN to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pinner. Graduated From Byars Hall in 1964. He was employed with Southwest Tennessee Electric Company at age 23 and retired July 1, 2013 after 45 years. He was a lifelong fan and supporter of the Covington Chargers. He dedicated 49 years between 1967-present, to filming every Charger football game. He was known for giving of his time and resources to various clubs, charities, and individuals in need. He was ordained as a deacon at Liberty Baptist Church in 1972. Butch started out with the Dixie Youth Baseball organization as an umpire and later became National Director for the organization, a title which he held for more than 35 years. He was devoted to family and friends and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, his Lord and savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margarite Pinner, and a sister, Ann McDivitt. He is survived by his brother Jimmy Pinner (Debbie) of McRae AR, brother Walter (Lea Ann) of Covington TN, a sister Evelyn Stringer (Jim) of Atoka TN, a sister Paula Sue Pinner of Lakeland TN, his Uncle William Mooneyham (Betty) of Brighton TN, his Uncle Gerald Mooneyham of Brighton TN, and an Aunt, Mary Alice Pinner of Covington TN. He is also survived by 12 nephews and nieces, 13 great nephews and nieces, two great nieces, and a faithful caregiver, Josephine Gooden. George requested that in lieu of flowers, to please send donations to the Liberty Baptist Church Family Life Center (2097 Holly Grove Rd., Covington TN 38019). The family life center held a special place in his heart. It is a gathering place for good food, laughter, and good times for his fellow church members, as well as a place to minister to others in need during times of crisis. The services for Mr. George Pinner will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 7 at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will take place Wednesday July 6 from 5-9 p.m. at the Church. Interment will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens.

George will be missed by many whose hearts have been touched by him. He was not only compassionate to his church (Liberty Baptist, family, friends, Covington football, Dixie softball, but was also to the Boy's Ranch located in Millington. Children had a special place in his heart
