John Warpool Obituary

Ripley - JOHN CALVIN "Bo" WARPOOL, 81, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at his home on Chisolm Lake Road. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. with memorial services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7 at Garner Funeral Home, Ripley. He was a member of Edith United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer and landowner and former Deputy Warden for several years at West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning, and an ardent sportsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Inez Chisholm Warpool. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Crihfield Spiller Warpool. Formerly, he was married to Dorris Ballinger Kirkpatrick Warpool, who passed away in 1979. Also surviving are three step-children he helped rear, William "Bill" Lackey Kirkpatrick, Jr of Studio City, CA, Doris "Dottie" Kirkpatrick Bevis of Dallas, TX and Laura "Betsy" Kirkpatrick Barfield of Brighton, TN. Other step-children are Shelia Spiller Gober of Collierville, TN, and William Crihfield "Bill" Spiller of Memphis, TN. There are ten surviving step-grandchildren, Carter Kirkpatrick Bevis, Donald Prichard Bevis, Jr., Elisabeth Lackey Bevis, John Hayne Webb, Jr., Joe Brown Barfield, Jr., Laura Barfield Culotta, Ashley Elizabeth Gober, William H. Gober, Jr., William Harrison Spiller, Presley May Spiller; and five step-great-grandchildren. He has a sister, Blanche Warpool Richardson of McAlister, OK. Bo served in WWII for four years in the 29th Infantry Division and participated in the invasion of France on the Omaha Beach Head. He was awarded four Battle Stars and the Bronze Arrow Head. He also served during the Korean Conflict. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the charity of your choice. Garner Funeral Home 731-635-1271
