Lucy Anderson Obituary

Lucy Mae Anderson

Lucy Mae Anderson was born on April 17, 1938, in Memphis, TN to the late Willie Bee and Ludie Mae Williams. She was united in marriage to the late Maxie Anderson on March 25, 1958. She departed this life on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Baptist Desoto Hospital.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at South Parkway Church of Christ. Lucy truly treasured her relationship with the Lord and enjoyed speaking to people about the Bible.

Lucy Mae was a faithful employee of J. B. Hunter for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Williams, who left her with four beautiful granddaughters, Sharita Holliday (Wallace), Marcy Miles (Dewayne), Itamara Wright, and Kandace Pugh (Demontriond).

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Rodger Williams, Edgar Lee Williams, Joe Williams, and Malvin Williams and two sisters, Geraldine Chapman and Helen Hutchinson.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Patrick Anderson of Memphis, TN; five daughters, Capricia Anderson of Germantown, TN, Jonise Anderson of Horn Lake, MS, Charmain Anderson, Teri Anderson, and Carnesia (Woopi) Anderson all of Memphis, TN; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Lucy Mae was a mother to all and a very special person. She was an incredibly loving and attentive foster mom to many children.

While we mourn her physical absence, she left an indelible mark on many lives, most impacted those of her children.

Visitation is Saturday, Dec. 19, from 2-5pm at M. J. Edwards Funeral Chapel, Whitehaven, 5494 Elvis Presley Blvd. Graveside service is Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 at 10 am at New Park Cemetery 3900 Sewanee, Rd., Memphis 38109.

I´m awake early on my off day thinking of you grandma. I´m sitting at the table, drinking coffee feeling broken with nobody to tell. You always knew what to say even when I didn´t tell you what I was going through. The conversations seem to always take us to my life and you gave me the lesson without me having to shamefully explain it to you. I am still thankful for you. I love you and miss you.

Today Sharita and I was talking about you. I opened my email after we got off the phone and the memorial book for you was there. It really just kind of made my heart sink. I love you grandma and miss you terribly. So many days I´ve had so much to say and tell you. Life has been overwhelming at time and nobody can give that calming energy like you could. I know things will never be the same but I´m not sure if I like the new normal. It´s kind of one of those things where you can´t quite adjust to so you wing it. Anywho, I love you, miss you and think of you daily! Keep resting. Until we meet again

Today you were laid to rest and I still can’t comprehend that you are no longer present in the flesh. You poured so much love into the lives of the people around you. Grandma, you were so loving, kind, genuine, sincere, honest and most of all God-fearing. I have never experienced this kind of pain. I just thank God for allowing me to have you in my life. Thank you for always loving me, for praying for me, for encouraging me and always being present. Rest well Grandma. I hope to be half the woman you were. I’ll love you until my last breath.

Sis Anderson was "Momma" and "Auntie" to a lot of people. One of the sweetest people I've ever met.I just called her Sister Lucy. She definately reminded me of my own mother.
To the family:I know you will be sad and truly miss her,and just know she had a life well lived.
I'm sure gonna miss those turnip greens!
Much love from the Hewett Family

I love you grandma. You are sorely missed. I never thought this day would come that I would have to say good bye. You were truly an Angel on earth! You were a good servant for the Lord and with knowing that you have already received your crown, I may still be sad but can rest easily and smile with all the memories I have of you. Take your rest grandma. Forever in my heart ❤
