Patricia Anne Hoelscher Holliday Craddock
Memphis, TN
Patricia Anne Hoelscher Holliday Craddock was born on December 10, 1933 to Nell Evelyn Cahill and Robert Julian Hoelscher. She looked into the face of Jesus on December 21, 2018. A valiant 12-year battle with cancer never quelled her bright smile, energetic lifestyle, readiness to laugh and deep faith. A lifelong Memphian raised at Bellevue Baptist Church, Pat attended Snowden Junior High and Central High School, graduating in 1951. After graduation from UT School of Dental Hygiene in 1953, she worked for several local dentists until she married Dr. Thomas Linton Holliday in 1958, who predeceased her in 1990. She is survived by their five children, Craig Linton Holliday (Lisa) of Memphis, TN; Robert Lee Holliday of Memphis, TN; Thomas Linton Holliday (Julie) of New Canaan, CT; Julie Meeks (Gregg) of Memphis, TN; and Paul Michael Holliday (Leesa) of Signal Mountain, TN. Pat also leaves thirteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three step-great-granddaughters all of whom she adored. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Barbara Hoelscher, many nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as her beloved friend and housekeeper for 48 years, Pearl Jones.
One of the founding members of Bible Study Fellowship, Pat was a Discussion Leader and eventually Class Administrator, while also teaching Sunday School and Bible Studies in homes, as well as volunteering with Maternal Welfare League, Duration Club, The Medical Auxiliary, and the Women's Exchange. Pat counseled many women over the years and was a source of Godly wisdom and encouragement.
In 1996, Pat married William S. "Bill" Craddock and was pleased to gain another lovely family, including stepdaughter, Linda Craddock Work and stepson, William Craddock, Jr., (Margaret) and Bill's five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Joining Second Presbyterian Church, where Bill was a lifelong member, Pat became the President of the Chapel Class and for a few years served as the Administrator of The Walk Bible Study as well. Avid fans of UTK and the University of Memphis, as well as Rhodes College, Pat and Bill enjoyed football and basketball games and travelled widely, dividing their time between their homes in Memphis and Destin, and playing golf in Arizona and at Memphis Country Club. Pat's energy, gift of encouragement, and love of life will be missed by her many friends and family. Visitation will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 4055 Poplar Ave., at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27 with a Memorial Service following at 12:30 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Bible Study Fellowship International, 19001 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78258-4019 (with note Memphis E DW) or the
charity of the donor's choice.
