Alton W Stone Jr

Chesapeake , VA — After a period of declining health, Alton W (Butch) Stone Jr. at 74 years old of Chesapeake, Virginia, went Home to be with Jesus on November 17, 2021, at Hampton Veterans Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia. He was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, on November 10, 1947 to his late parents, Alton W. Stone Sr., and Ida (Zinck) Stone.

Alton served in the United States Navy from 1966-1969, at which time he was honorably discharged following a serious accident which left him permanently paralyzed. Despite his injury, he lived a full life for many years, enjoying his family, gardening, cheering for the Red Sox and Patriots, serving in his church, leading home Bible studies, and leading chapel services in several nursing homes.

He was predeceased by his stepmother Eleanore (Chase) Stone, brothers Charles Stone and James Stone, and a sister Jane (Stone) Hargraves.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Linda (Shorey) Stone, a son Peter and his wife Jess Stone and their children, Kiera, Rauri, Aoife, Fionn, and Moira; a son Andrew Stone and his fiance Sarah and his children Kaylee and Andrew; a daughter Carrie Stone-Savary, her husband Jeff and their children Michaella and Madelyn ; a son Mark Stone; a daughter Deborah (Stone) Brecken, her husband Eli, and their son William; and a son Ryan Stone. He is also survived by his three sisters, Judy (Stone) Bowley, Susan (Stone) Isbell, Lillian (Stone) Janvrin.

There will be a memorial service held on December 11, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Redemption Church , 2101 Iowa Street, Chesapeake, VA.

There will be another memorial service on May 21, 2022 in New Hampshire, followed by burial at Boscawen Veterans Cemetery.
