Christos Lillios Obituary

Christos J. Lillios, 78, and known to all his many friends as merely "The Fox," died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Concord Hospital.

Chris was born in Concord, the son of the late John and Madeline Lillios.

He grew up on 42 Concord Street and attended Rumford School, Parker School and Rundlett Jr. High School and graduated from Concord High, as class of 1956. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served four years as a E5 second class aviation hydraulic/metal-smith.

Upon leaving the service, he attended New Hampshire Technical Institute to study Commercial Art. Upon graduation, he then had a long career as a Staff Artist for American Knitwear then Capital Offset, Rumford Press, Village Press, Northern Telecom and DiBenedetto Associates in N. Andover, Mass.

Chris loved archery and was a State and New England Champion until his wife Barbara introduced him to golf and he fell in love with that great game (that he claimed he was never that good at it, but loved it no less). Chris was a proud member of Beaver Meadow (known as The Beav) which he thought was the best golf course in New Hampshire. His many friends at The Beav arguably thought he was "the best putter bar none!"

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 55 years and sister, Pauline Stavro of Franklin, niece Madelyn Coffin-Kritlow of Franklin, and nephew Richard Stavro of Woburn, Mass.

A visiting hour will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25,  from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service following immediately at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 68 North State St., Concord.

The committal with Naval honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord. Online condolences can be expressed at bennettfuneral.com.

Chris and I were co-workers at Northern Telecom from 1983 to 1989. I was a technical writer and I was always in awe with Chris' art work. He was just a fantastic person to work with. Great personality and always smiling. Rest in peace Chris. You will be missed.

The "Fox" will always be one of my favorites from the Beav, I was glad to stay in touch with him after I moved. Football Sunday's will never be the same, trying to talk him down during the Patriots games. Sorry I can't make it back to pay my respects, he will always be in my heart. RIP Fox
