Daniel Fagan Obituary

Daniel Fagan

Concord, NH - Daniel Thomas Fagan, 60, of Ashland, MA passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2023, after a valiant battle against Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). He was surrounded by loved ones. Born to Thomas A. Fagan and Anne (Murphy) Fagan on November 7, 1962 in Glens Falls, NY. Raised in New York and New Hampshire, he was a 1980 graduate of Concord High School in Concord, New Hampshire.

Dan graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1984 with a BS in Chemical Engineering and earned an MBA from Benedictine University in Illinois. He worked for Emerson & Cuming for twenty-eight years then spent the last eleven years working for Thermo Fisher Scientific in Bedford, MA.

Dan married the love of his life Marybeth Tully on November 15, 2003. Their son Christopher was born in 2006. He was a devoted husband, proud father and selfless human being. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching Christopher play hockey. He was a brave and humble man, with a surprising dry wit and a beaming smile. An outdoorsman, he liked skiing, cycling, hiking, and kayaking. He also

loved music, especially Bruce Springsteen and various jazz artists. Dan enjoyed traveling. Australia and Alaska were his favorite trips. An avid sports fan, he liked watching the Red Sox and Bruins. He considered himself a fortunate son, brother, husband, father, and uncle.

He was pre-deceased by his parents and their infant daughter Theresa. Dan is survived by his loving wife Marybeth, their son Christopher of Ashland, MA; siblings Timothy of Tokyo, Japan, Julia and her husband Ricardo Olivares of Querétaro, Mexico, Mary of New Hampshire and Patrick of Carbondale, CO. Dan is also survived by his niece Isabelle and nephew Jonathan both of Brooklyn NY and many close cousins and relatives.

Visiting hours will be on August 3 from 4-7 p.m. at Matarese Funeral Home, Ashland, MA. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 4 at St. Matthew Church, 26 Highland St. in Southborough, MA to be followed by burial at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan's name may be made to the Mass General Cancer Center at giving.massgeneral.org in thanks for the wonderful care the medical staff gave to him.

Dan was one of the most honest people I have known, and I privileged to share an office with him at Thermo Fisher Scientific. He was a talented engineer who was easy to talk to and gave great advice and guidance. He was immensely proud of his family, and I looked forward to seeing every new month on his personalized calendars as well as hearing stories of family vacations and hockey tryouts and games.

The Fagan family has been held always in high esteem by Bill and me. This news of your sibling loss is received with sadness. Danny was more special and no more special than each child of Anne and Tom. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches over each of you.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to the family. Your husband/father was a great person and will be deeply missed. I´ve only had the opportunity to work with Dan for a few years in Bedford but in that short time the person I got to know was someone that you rarely come across. Dan was genuine, big hearted and a great overall person to be around. We´ll all miss Dan and know that your family is in everyone´s thoughts during this difficult time.

Dan was a valued colleague at Thermo Fisher. His impact on the company and on all the team mates who learned from him and called him a friend will be sorely missed. I am glad to have known him. My condolences to his family and friends.
