Ernest Toumpas Obituary

Ernest "Tasso" Toumpas

Concord, NH — Ernest "Tasso" Toumpas of Concord, NH died suddenly on February 22, 2022.

Tasso was born in New York City, December 18, 1952 to Aristides Toumpas and Joan Anganes.

He grew up in Concord and graduated from Concord High School in 1971, and from the University of New Hampshire in 1975. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1978, and remained active in the Guard for 30 years. His early work career started at Sears on Main Street in Concord, before he joined the Guard full time. After retirement from the Guard, he started a new career with Capital Appraisal Associates, and became certified in conducting real estate appraisals with a focus on commercial real estate.

Tasso's passions in life were his family and community. He was an incredibly loving husband and father. A methodical and organized man, he was quiet, funny, and kind; a friend you could depend on. For years, he was a Saturday morning regular at Bashios' South Street Market, always enjoying coffee with the guys. He enjoyed playing sports, especially golf, and was thrilled in November 2021 when, after 47 years of playing the Harvest tournament, his team finally won. He was part of a group who shared Red Sox season tickets, and was so happy that this year he got tickets to a Sox/Yankee game.

Tasso was also a life-long devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. For decades, he served on the Church Council in various capacities, and was the go-to person to get things done. He could be counted on not only in facilitating the regular operations of the Church, but in special events like the annual festival. He was a regular volunteer, cooking and serving meals at the Friendly Kitchen. He was also a member of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) in support of Greek Americans.

He leaves his wife of 27 years, Jane Lesinski Toumpas of Concord; two daughters, Anastasia of Downieville CA, and Aristogeneia of Columbus OH. He also leaves his brother, Nicholas Toumpas and his wife Linda of Rye NH; sister, Mary Toumpas of Hampton NH; nieces Leah Toumpas of Beaufort SC, and Johanna Murphy of Arlington VA; and nephew Stephen Murphy and wife Allison of Fairfield CT, as well as numerous cousins.

Tasso will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held at Bennet Funeral Home, 209 N Main St. in Concord NH, on Tuesday, March 1st from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Trisagion Prayers will be at 5:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 68 N State Street, Concord NH on Wednesday, March 2nd and 10:00 am. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home of Concord NH.
