Garth Olson Obituary
Rutland, VT - Garth Hodgkins Olson, 46 of Rutland, VT died of natural causes on March 16. He was 46 years old. Garth was born July 10, 1977 in Concord, NH. He graduated from Concord High School in 1995. Garth lived in NH and VT over the years, working in the service industry and most recently running his own painting business.
He was a kind, gentle soul who loved animals, all things nature, snowboarding at his favorite VT slopes, music, cooking, and gardening. He will be missed by all those who loved him. "Goin' home, goin' home by the waterside, I will rest my bones."
Garth is survived by his mother, Deb Olson of Ludlow, VT; his father, Harold Olson and partner Carolyn Sherman of Concord, NH; his sister Hilary Phelan, her husband Jonathan, nephews Cillian and Max, and niece Peyton of Scarborough, ME; many aunts, uncles and cousins of NH and Iowa, his cats Indigo and Wednesday, and a strong community of friends.
A celebration of life for Garth will be planned for a future date. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Garthy Poo I knew you before you were born Your mom and I were pregnant together and my son Ben was born 1 month 10 days after you You were his very first friend Snowboarding together with identical snow jackets and of course Burton Boards Camping together and 100 ft pond(actually maybe 2-3 ft) I appreciate reconnecting last year and the pictures you shared You were always so sweet and kind and the best trick or treater ever May the force be with you in heaven. Garth was a childhood friend with a passion for life. I had the opportunity to share in his love of snowboarding at Crested Butte and will keep the many memories of childhood alive.

This is so sad. I lost contact after high school but we had classes together back in the day and he was so nice. He was that guy that just lit up the room. The skater, grunge and hippy guy. His presence made it possible to get through some of those long classes where you just wanted to be somewhere else. My condolences to the family and friends. May you fly high Garth.
