George DeVol Obituary

SOLSBERRY, Ind. – George Western DeVol, 66, Solsberry, passed away at 11:05 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015. at his residence.

He was born on Friday, April 16, 1948. in Sheridan, Ind., to the late Byron and Edith (Small) DeVol.

George had been the Deputy Town Marshal at Westfield, Ind.; worked at Sunrise Publication and ASI Security both in Bloomington. He was co-owner of AAA Body Shop in Westfield and Spencer. He was a member of the Spencer Conservation Club and was a regular participant of the Still Board shoots. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing poker, attending auctions.

Survivors are his children, Byron DeVol of Loudon, Chris DeVol of Loudon, LaTina DeVol of Council Bluffs, Iowa, John Maxwell and wife, Lana of Spencer, Carl Gray and wife, Erica of Jamestown, Patrica Lazell and husband, Jason of Unionville and Robert Trobaugh of Hendricksville; siblings, Judy Hammock and Pam Wells both of Tennessee, and Tommy DeVol of Alaska; father-in-law, Carl Rose and wife Diana of Canaan, Mo.; mother- in- law, Carol Hoerath Gray of Lebanon; brother-in-laws, Denny Rose and Curtis Rose both of Canaan, Mo.; sister-in-laws, Sue Roach of Bourbon, Mo., Cheryl Sims of Spencer and Cara Williams of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Carla Rose DeVol; son, Adam Matthew Gray; brother, Harry "Buddy" DeVol.

Memorial will be held Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. at the Hendricksville Community Center.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or the Owen County Humane Society.
