Jane Boesch Obituary

Jane Eynon Boesch

North Hampton and Henniker, NH - Jane Eynon Boesch, of North Hampton and Henniker, New Hampshire, died peacefully on November 18, 2025 at Concord Hospital. She was 87.

Jane Lawrence Eynon was born in Boston. She was the daughter of David L. Eynon Jr. and Grace (Voyle) Eynon, and sister of Lucy (Whitin) and David Eynon III. The family lived in Melrose, Massachusetts, and then Texas, West Virginia, St. Louis, and Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Jane spent many summers as a camper and counselor in northern Wisconsin.

Jane graduated from Wellesley College in 1960. She and William S. (Bill) Boesch met while working in the United States Senate (at the time a respectable establishment). They were married just after Christmas in December 1960, and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last year. They lived outside Washington, D.C., and then moved to New England with the Air Force, before settling on Atlantic Avenue in North Hampton, New Hampshire in 1971. They had three children: William, Jane (Jenny) (m. Timothy Dining), and Matthew (m. Kristina Peare).

Jane obtained her master's degree in library science from the University of Rhode Island in 1977. She worked for many years as a librarian at Phillips Exeter Academy, retiring in 2001.

Bill and Jane remained in North Hampton for 53 years. They were members of the United Church of Christ. Jane volunteered in the church, and for the town's library and historical society. In the summer of 2024, Bill and Jane sold the house on Atlantic Avenue and moved to a new home in Henniker, built by their son Matthew.

Jane was a grandmother to five grandchildren, who knew her as Yaya: Smita, Pritty (Hughes), and Eli Boesch-Dining, and Owen and Innes Boesch. She had one great-grandchild, Leonidas Hughes. She saw the children and grandchildren often-for many years the family would assemble each summer at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine-and she closely followed their educational and career paths and various exploits.

Jane was a lifelong reader and book-lover, a compassionate liberal, a skillful quilter, a beachgoer, a thoughtful gift-giver and holiday-planner, and the spirit of any gathering.

A service will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in North Hampton (295 Atlantic Avenue), with a reception at the church to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the New Hampshire Food Bank.
