Joanna M. Cloe

formerly of Pembroke, NH - Joanna Mary (Cavanagh) Cloe, 79, passed away in Florida April 17th after a short illness. She was formerly a longtime resident of Pembroke, NH and member of St. John the Baptist Church.

She was born in Battle, Sussex, England October 20, 1944. The daughter of Lt Cmdr Patrick Cavanagh and Ursula Mary (Cantopher) Cavanagh, she was educated in England before traveling to the US, where she later settled in NH.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Cloe; son Timothy Cloe (Denise); daughter Penny Cloe (Shawn); daughter Courtney Cole (Thomas); 4 beloved grandchildren; brother Nicholas Cavanagh; brother Jonathan Cavanagh (Nebiur); sister-in-law Gwenyth Zeno; and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as countless dear friends.

She was pre-deceased by her sister Antonia Beamish, sisters-in-law Claire L'Enfant and Ernestine Hawkins and brother-in-law Kenneth Zeno.

Joanna worked with children throughout her 30+ year career, first with her own home daycare and later moving into Special Education at Bow High School.

She loved to travel, read, listen to classical music, play games and bake, and treasured time with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family will be having a private burial at a later date.

Our children grew up together in Pembroke and I had her two girls in pre - school.
She was a wonderful caring person and valued friend. We sure enjoyed our Buck St. chats!!

Joanna is as a very special person and I feel very grateful to have know her as well as for all the TLC she gave both my kids when she did childcare in her home. I could go to my job knowing that they were in the capable and loving hands of someone who provided a safe and stimulating environment for them to learn and grow. I can only imagine what a super grand mother she became because of the devotion she showed to all in her care. She will remain in the hearts of all those little ones she helped raise and may you be comforted by the memories she created with you. I am so sorry for your loss.

I have so many wonderful memories of her from being one of the children she cared for to having her care for my own children. She was always the first to her feet to sing the Star Spangled Banner at a basketball game and cheered on those Spartans with gusto. She was an amazing person and I will always hold her in my heart. To this entire Cloe family..so sorry to learn of Joanna's passing. She was a saint! She took care of our two children when they were both very young...day care centers today should be modeled after what she did years ago! She not only provided a safe environment but a learning center as well. We were then and now grateful for how she did that child care back then. May all the wonderful memories of Joanna from the past be source of healing and comfort to you now during this difficult time.
