John Currier Obituary

John L. Currier

Hooksett, NH - John L. Currier, 76, of Hooksett, NH, passed away on April 10, 2025, after a fearless battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Born in Manchester, NH to parents Charles and Justine (Forcier) Currier. John grew up in Allenstown and graduated from Pembroke Academy. He remained in Allenstown until moving to Hooksett in 1984.

A long-time truck driver, John founded "John's Truck Service" in the late 1970s in the garage at his home. In 1983 he moved the business to 1 Allenstown Road, where it remained until his retirement two years ago. It was during this time that he also started collecting and restoring antique cars, his '59 Corvette being among his favorites.

Blessed with many wonderful friends to share his time with, John enjoyed a variety of hobbies, especially those spent outdoors. Every fall you could find him hunting anywhere in the Northeast and in winter he was riding his snowmobile all around his home in the Great North Woods. In the spring he would be on his bulldozer working on "the farm" and in the summer you could find him on his Harley, taking long rides on back roads.

Before his passing, John lost his beautiful wife of 36 years Elaine (Bouchard) Currier, as well as his brothers Charles Currier and Philip Currier among others.

John leaves behind his loving companion Allyson Bodell, his daughter, Ann-marie (Currier) Lawrence, and her companion Brad Smith of Deerfield, his son John R. Currier and his wife, Katherine (Pike) Currier of Charlotte, NC. John had 4 beautiful grandchildren: Mahra (Lawrence) Curtis with her husband Zachary of Concord, NH, Molly Lawrence of Hooksett, NH, Calvin Currier, and Lawson Currier, both of Charlotte, NC. Four years ago John became a Great-Grandfather to Tennyson Curtis, then again two years later to Cashton Curtis. He also leaves behind his wonderful sister, Jackie (Currier) Mason, many nieces and nephews, and a bonus family the Bodells and Smiths brought into our lives.

In place of flowers please donate to Granite VNA Hospice House, Concord NH, or the ALS Association.

A Celebration of Life (or the "Party Thing" as John called it) will be had at a future date.

So sorry to hear of his passing. John was just a wonderful person and always had a smile on his face. I was a customer of his and Bob Cates for 40 years . They provided the best service. I missed them very much after closing the business.

Condolences to family and friends. I addition to the many activities related in the obituary, John was well known to a group of guys and gals as a fierce competitor to be reckoned with on the area tractor pulling tracks.
