I was a new student to BMS. They offered YMCA swimming for the class. I was shy, could not swim. Mr Lyford came to our session. He did what others couldn't - taught me how to swim. May you RIP Mr Lyford. I always looked up to you for your patience. Condolences to the Family.

I grew up in Pembroke, and Mr. Lyford was a teacher of mine at Pembroke Elementary School from 1957-1960; I learned many great lessons from him. I wish I'd had an opportunity to interact with him again as an adult as I think he would have enjoyed knowing what happened to some of his former students. I extend my most sincere condolences to his family during this time of loss.
