John had a special gift when it came to reading and absorbed knowledge his entire life through books. Born in Middleborough, Mass., he grew up in Manassas, Va., attended St. Mark's Methodist Church in his youth and graduated from Stonewall Jackson Senior High School. John "worked" over three hundred countries on his amateur radio station. His station didn´t have the latest and most expensive equipment; he did it with his incredible skills as a radio operator. We deeply miss him at NEAR-Fest.......

Has it been four years already? We still miss John at NEAR- Fest tending his tables of Morse Code keys and other fine goodies. Somehow the hamfest he helped create and maintain is not quite the same with him no longer with us. May he rest in peace....

There are no words for how much you will be missed my dear brother Johnny. You are close in my heart and I am thankful your suffering is over and you are at peace and with the Lord. You were an amazing brother and I looked up to you growing up even though we would fight at times. My heart hurts but my memories of you will help it heal. Love you forever, Jeannie.

John always had great keys and other radio "stuff" on his table at NEAR-Fest.
