Jewel Moore Obituary
Jewel was born in New London in July 1936, to Silas Henry and Dorothy (Flannery) Geer. She lived on her grandfather Frank Wells Geer's small Waterford farm with her sister Doris and their parents. She recounted sweet memories of growing up there – tending chickens, picking strawberries and riding her neighbor's horses.
Jewel graduated from New London High School. She raised three children, Kim Nunes, Robin Nunes (Long), and Robert Nunes Jr. During those years, she worked different jobs. Her favorite one was as owner of a Cocoa Beach, Fla. gift shop, where she met many visitors. She retired, travelled a little, and then returned to her Waterford roots where she would take long walks at the beach park and at Harkness Memorial State Park with her dog, always enjoying the ocean.
She is survived by Kim (Tom), Bob Jr. (Maureen); two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and close friend, Joyce Medeiros. She was preceded in death by her daughter Robin; son-in-law Gary Long; and sister Doris Musser.
