Ronald Giannamore Obituary

Ronald Joseph Giannamore
Ronald Joseph Giannamore, 90, of Niantic, formerly of South Windsor, Connecticut, passed away on February 14, 2026.
Born on December 15, 1935, in Waterbury, Connecticut, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Giannamore. Ron graduated from Crosby High School, in Waterbury, before earning his engineering degree from Villanova University, a university he remained a proud and devoted supporter of throughout his life. He later returned to teach at Villanova, sharing his knowledge and passion for engineering with future generations. In 1969, he earned his master's degree from University of Connecticut
Ron built a distinguished career as an engineer, holding an extraordinary 13 engineering patents over the course of his professional life. In 1974, he joined Aqua Pool & Patio, Inc. helping to build the company into the successful and respected business it is today - all while continuing his full-time engineering career until his retirement in 1995. His work ethic, vision, and steady leadership left a lasting mark.
Education was deeply important to Ron. He strongly encouraged continuing education and lifelong learning, instilling those values in his children and grandchildren. He believed knowledge was one of life's greatest gifts and led by example.
At the heart of Ron's life was his extraordinary love story with his wife, Jean Giannamore. He was born at the top of the hill, she at the bottom. Neighborhood friends who began dating in the seventh grade, they were married on November 15, 1958, and shared a lifetime of devotion and partnership. Fifteen years ago, they became full-time residents of Niantic, Connecticut, where they enjoyed the shoreline community together.
Ron was an avid hunter who treasured time spent outdoors, especially with his son, his son-in-law, and his grandsons. Another favorite pastime was playing cards with his son and son-in-law, gatherings filled with laughter, competition, and tradition.
His favorite vacation destination was Aruba. After purchasing a timeshare there in 1983, Ron and Jean returned nearly every year, often for weeks at a time. Over the decades, they developed deep and lasting friendships, creating a second home filled with sunshine and cherished memories.
He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved daughter, Karen; and his sister, Phyllis Micalizzi.
He leaves behind his lifelong love, Jean Giannamore; his daughter, Mary Beth (Jack) Chinsky, and their daughters, Anna Chinsky and Dayna (Ryan) Lemieux, and their son, Brayden; his daughter, Debra Ann (Keith) Madden, and their children, Sam Madden and Angela Madden; his son, Joseph (Karine) Giannamore and their children, Alexander Giannamore and Louis Giannamore; his son, Michael (Sabine) Giannamore and their children, Lorenzo Giannamore and Lucia Giannamore. He also leaves his nephew, Joseph (Sandra) Micalizzi
Ron will be remembered for his brilliance, integrity, strength, devotion to family, love of tradition, and unwavering belief in the power of education. His legacy lives on not only in the patents he earned and the business he helped build, but in the generations who carry forward his values, his work ethic, and his enduring love.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 5-7pm and again on Friday from 11-12pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, 12pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor.

Sorry to hear about Ronnie“s passing. My condolences to his family. He will be missed. My wife and I were pleased to be able to use his condo in Aruba. My son Gregg was close to Ronnie for many years. He is presently in northern Canada, and since he did not drive himself, is not able to get back for the service. Bob Pruitt
