John Sweeney Obituary

John C. Sweeney

Concord, NH - John C. Sweeney, 91, of Concord NH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31st, 2025. John was born in Concord on February 5th, 1934, to Clarence and Luella (Palmer) Sweeney. He was a proud Marine, a great athlete, and a ski patrolman. John worked at Concord Natural Gas, and in retirement, found joy in delivering flowers for Cobblestone Florist-a job he truly loved. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna (Cozzi) Sweeney, and his son, Jay Sweeney.

John is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Sweeney) Bean; his sister, Jean Sweeney; his daughter-in-law, Deb Sweeney, and her family. He was a loving Papa to many, including his grandson, Stephen Bean; his wife, Suzy; and their 3 children: Charlie, Stevie, and Blake. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Susan (Bean) Gelinas; her husband, Ben; and their 3 children: Christopher, Haleigh, and Nicholas.

John was also blessed with many beautiful friends and family throughout his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 4th at 10:30AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 180 Loudon Rd. Concord

Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.

The Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish or Granite VNA."

I worked with John at Concord Gas many years ago - it was one of my first office jobs when I was in high school! He was such a nice man and always smiling. Very positive experience early in my life and I´ve never forgotten him! My heartfelt sympathy to his family.

I worked with John at Concord Gas and then at EnergyNorth. I would see him often at Market Basket and stopped to chat. He always asked about my family. Such a great man and will be missed. RIP John Sweeney.
