Mr Tunney was one of the best teacher I had had in Bristol, NH.....but he was a terrible basketball player......my forearms still recovering from his hacking. I hope he had a wonderful life and a loving family.

Sending my sincere sympathy to John's family. Unique, quirky and one of a kind only begin to describe this wonderful soul of a professional educator. I too have nice memories of John running down Portsmouth Street over the years. I first met him in '71-72 at NHTI in my English class where I met my wife of 34 years! We both loved him!

I had Mr. Tunney for English in the basement at Kennett my Sophomore year. In 1968 we dedicated our yearbook to him as he was our class advisor.

My condolences to John's family and friends. I know from my four years as a student at Kennett High School that his students enjoyed having him as their teacher.

Kate, sorry for your loss I know your dad was very proud of you. It seems like our paths kept crossing from Kennett High to NHTI. He worked for my dad for a few summers in Conway and would drop by our house at the holidays when he was in town to entertain us with a few stories:) Colorful is a great word to describe him. Our thoughts are with your whole family...

John was one of the best English teachers that Kennett High School ever had. He inspired everyone of his students to do their very best. He was always such a fun teacher and always had a sense of humor. Prayers to his family and all those that lives he has touched with his knowledge.

John was one of my more colorful mentors at any level of my education. He introduced me to the darker side of Robert Frost when he assigned "Out,out-" to my Sophomore English class at Kennett. I'd always hoped our paths would cross later in life.
