Otto KERN Obituary
It is with a saddened heart to announce the passing of my wonderful husband, Otto Kern, on Dec. 14, 2014. He was born in 1927 in Switzerland and immigrated to the USA in 1953. He worked for Ex-Cell-O corporation in Troy, MI, as Group Vice President and made his home residence on Wing Lake in Bloomfield Hills, MI. While managing the German plant in 1964 he met the love of his life, Maria Schwegler, and they were married in 1969 in Germany. January 1972, his only daughter, Tanja, was born in Germany and in October 1972, he moved with his family to England to manage the factory in Leicester. In 1974, he went back to the headquarters in Michigan where he resided with his family until 2001 before moving to Florida.
Otto is survived by Maria, his loving and devoted wife of 45 years; daughter, Tanja with husband Gaet; and two granddaughters, Kasha, born in 2004 and Lara, born in 2005. Otto had a great love for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing as well as cooking and gardening. He also was an avid reader and traveled around the world with his wife at his side. He was a remarkable man who lived his life to the fullest and never looked back on any choice he made. Otto will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.They all will remember his infectious smile and humor. Times may change many things, but not our love for you! The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the outstanding and loving staff, especially the owner of the Oasis Estate in Largo. A private service will be held at a later date to celebrate the life of a man who will be missed forever. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Institute for research in his memory, (http://health.usf.edu/byrd/partner.htm). obgleich wir in den letzten Jahren nicht sehr viel Kontakt hatten, hat Ihre Nachricht mich sehr bewegt. Die Trauer gilt einen Mann, der auch in wirren Zeiten Mensch geblieben ist. Alle, die ihn kannten, werden seine humorvolle Ironie vermissen.

Dearest Maria,
I will always remember Otto for his big hugs and friendly demeanor. His smile came easy and his laughter was infectious. Everyone enjoyed being around Otto! He was truly one of a kind and will be truly missed by everyone who came in contact with him, including me and Ern. It was a sincere privilege to know him. How blessed you were to be married to such a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to you and your family.

Maria, we are so sad to read of Otto's passing. We will forever remember that great smile of his, and his wonderful sense of humor. I will never forget his kindness when I was having a terrible day, and he walked across the street with a handful of Birds of Paradise. Such a kind soul.
