Paul Grace Obituary

MANCHESTER – LTC Paul M. Grace USA (retired), 81, of Manchester died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in New York City on March 11, 1934, he was the son of Francis X. and Marie E. (Torpey) Grace. He was educated in the NYC Parochial school system and earned his bachelor's degree from Fordham University. He also earned a master's degree in business administration from SNHU (formerly New Hampshire College).

LTC Grace served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 24 years. After retiring from the military in 1979, Paul served the people of New Hampshire as Deputy Director and then as an adjudicator in the Department of Employment Security.

Paul's life was one based on his Catholic faith and service to his community. He was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Consoler's Group at St. Catherine Parish. He had a longtime involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, in Daniel Webster Council and in Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. He loved his model trains, loved traveling to visit his family, and to watch anything his grandchildren were doing. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Maloney) Grace in 2006.

Family members include his seven sons, Martin Grace and wife, Kelly of Atlanta, Patrick Grace and wife, Katherine of Strafford, the Very Rev. John Grace of Nashua, Thomas Grace and wife, Jennifer of Stratham, Daniel Grace and wife, Linda of Cumming, Ga., Kevin Grace of Manchester and Brendan Grace and wife, Erin of Manchester; his three daughters, Margaret Green and husband, William of Andover, Mass., Theresa Crowther and husband, David of Randolph, N.J. and Mary Calhoun and husband, James of Morrisville, Vt.; 29 grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Toolan of Southern Shores, N.C.; three nephews, one niece; and several cousins.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church.

Committal prayers and military burial honors will follow in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

We have lost a great friend and mentor. My most vivid memories of Scouting are those shared with Paul and his friend Paul Potvin - we had a lot of laughs together over the years and many tender moments.
