Paul Roderick Maclean

Gold Canyon, AZ — Lt. Paul R. Maclean, NHSP retired, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022 in Apache Junction, Arizona. Paul was born April 13, 1942 to Rev. Norman and Ruth Maclean in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

Summers were spent at the family camp in Nottingham, New Hampshire where from the age of 12 till 17, he worked milking cows at Johnson's Dairy Farm. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps at the age of 17 on September 8, 1959 and served as a jet engine mechanic until being discharged on September 22, 1963. After leaving the Marines he returned to the camp and worked at various jobs in the area, he especially loved working for Bob Bailey. He joined the New Hampshire State Police on March 6, 1968. He had assignments at the Training Academy and Troops C, E, F and G. Paul rose through the ranks, receiving many commendations and letters of appreciation. In 1986 he was Lieutenant of Troop G in Bow. That year Troop G was disbanded and he was assigned to the Special Investigative Unit for which he retired from in April of 1988.

He and his wife Patricia started dating in 1988 and were married July 21, 1996. Throughout their lives together they traveled around the US, skied wherever they could and enjoyed just being together. He was an accomplished skydiver, having almost 3,000 jumps, many of which were as a videographer. In 2010 they moved to Gold Canyon, Arizona.

Paul leaves behind his wife Patricia, stepdaughter Kimberly Gallagher (Mike) of Concord, NH, grandson Taylor Adkins (Sharon) of Israel, great grandsons Mason and Thomas, granddaughter Emmily Attocknie of Concord and was predeceased by grandson Darin Attocknie Jr. He also leaves a sister, Norma Marcellino and nephew Josh Marcellino and niece Christine Prior all of Vermont. Also sister-in-law Peggy Bahnson and her children Jennifer and Gregg Bahnson.

Paul was a hard worker, incredibly funny and always believed in doing what was right. He loved fiercely and would do anything for the ones he loved. He will be dearly missed.

So sorry to hear about Paul's passing. We both played racquetball at the Racquet Club of Concord. I really enjoyed talking with him and listening to his funny stories and observations over the years. Also enjoyed spending time with him and other RCC friends at his camp on ? lake. My deepest condolences to Patty and all of Paul's family and friends.

Patty, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Paul. Paul was part of the cadre, of my police academy class. I continued to see him throughout our careers and after and always considered him a consummate professional. May Paul Rest In Peace
