Remembering: Cooper Obituary

Remembering: Jeanne (Jinny) Ellen Cooper

Concord, NH - Jeanne (Jinny) Ellen Cooper, 74, died peacefully with her best friend and her daughter by her side on November 29, 2018 in Concord, NH. Born June 13, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL to Jeanne Louise Summerlin Cooper and James Elton Cooper. Her father died in WWII when she was an infant. Jinny was raised in Florida and West Virginia and during a brief marriage, lived in California where her daughter was born. She lived most of her adult life in Concord NH.

She enjoyed the outdoors, loved animals, especially horses and cats, swimming, gardening and reading. She was playful and possessed a good sense of humor. She was a talented artist who created the Chapter drawings for the 50th Anniversary Yearbook of Huntington High School in WV. She was an accomplished swimmer and diver and competed on the Huntington, WV YMCA and Riverside Club, Chesapeake, OH teams. She worked for a time as a mermaid at Weekee Wachee Springs, FL. Jinny was a devoted sister, mother, and friend who was kind, loving, generous, and enjoyed helping others. She was a social and environmental activist who led the effort to enable residents of a mobile home Park on Fisherville Road to become owners of the land rather than renters. She was part of the Clamshell Alliance non-violent protests against the building of Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant at Seabrook NH. During a demonstration she was arrested along with others and later praised the police for "being very nice."

She is missed by her daughter, Mindy Evanoff Cooper of Medford, MA, her treasured grandson, Aidan W. Sherry, and her sisters Suzanne Zumbrunnen McNabb (Doug) of Anderson, SC, Cathy Zumbrunnen of Rochester, NH, and special friends.
