Bob and I went through kindergarten-6th grade at Conant, 7-9th grades at Rundlett, and 10-12th grades at CHS...his parents lived on Rockingham Street around the corner from my grandparents place on Hope Avenue. Bob and I hung out during all those years...great guy, great friend. Lane Lacoy

Mary and Family, We are so sorry for your loss. Bob and I were lucky enough to have known him through WRHS as a student and then at Shaker Road CCC where my children attended school and camp. Bob was kind and fun and ran more than anyone that I've known. Such a loss to all. Thoughts and prayers are with the Heartz family. Bob LaChapelle, Janet Emerson, Dillon, Molly & Cassidy Emerson

I always remember seeing Bob running the streets of Concord, he had a unique style. He always radiated positivity. His smile inspired others. He made this shared earth, a much better place.

I am so saddened having read that Mr. Heartz (or Bob as we all called him) passed away recently. I will always remember the summers I spent at Shaker and when we used to pick our activities he always seemed to have the coolest ones! His sense of humor and his smile still resonate with me over 30 years later. THAT is the mark of a great leader and mentor. My heart goes out to his family. RIP Bob.

Mr. Heartz was the BEST teacher I ever had. He was my 7th Grade history teacher at Rundlett Junior High School back in 1990-91. I was a C-student and not very confident academically. He motivated me and made learning fun. He was funny, we had a saying that we would always throw back and forth, "I knew that." It's what I said when he corrected me on some material and he'd mock me with it when I got a question right. Several years later in college, I joined a fraternity. TKE. On the wall is a scroll with the names of the Lambda Sigma chapter's founding members. When I saw "#14 Robert Heartz" My jaw dropped. We are fraternity brothers! I have passed on this obituary to the brotherhood and he will be memorialized on our list of "Brothers Eternal". I will never forget seeing this guy in the halls, or running on the side of a road with that funny posture (hands pointing down) or picking up his kids at the Everett Arena. He always made me excited to see him. How many people in your life can do that. I truly love this guy. RIP, Mr. Heartz.

I knew Bob through the Concord YMCA. To say that he was one of the nicest people on the planet is a huge understatement. I feel so blessed to have known Bob. The world would be a much better place if we would all strive to be more like him.

Mary and Family, So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Truly, Mary, he was your other half. I think of him with these words:kind, thoughtful, capable, funny, compassionate. He was never in the spotlight through his own choice but a dependable, supportive presence. Jean Haley

I was fortunate to have Mr Hertz as both a teacher and a soccer coach during my schooling at Rundlett. He teaching and coaching style was very determined but compassionate - I can still recall conversations now, 30 years later. May his family know his life and impact was appreciated.

Dear Mary and family, I'm so very sorry to hear of the loss of Bob. I recall witnessing the love and respect both Bob and Mary had for each other, and it was a relationship that we should all aspire to achieve. It is with great sadness that my wife Gail and I wish to express our sympathy over Bobby's passing. Bob was an important part of our family. We will miss the compassion and sense of humor that were unique too him. His world consisted of family, children and the outdoors. He was a pied piper in attracting children and brought them joy while educating them at the same time. Bob could always be counted to keep an eye on his Aunt Harriet (Walker), my mother. His help was invaluable. Our thoughts are with Mary, his sons Andy and Cody, and their families. Bob & Gail Walker

So sorry to hear that Bob has passed away. I first met Bob around 1968 when he was a life guard at COPOCO and he taught me senior life saving. He was always friendly. I would see Jim running around East Concord and he would wave when I would run by his house. RIP

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Bob's family at this time. Bob was not only a coach talented in instructing technique, but lived his life as an example to us. It was also fun, later in life, to run into him on the local race circuit. Thanks for sharing him with us.
