Robert Ragazzo Obituary

Robert Ragazzo

Newbury, NH - Robert Paul Ragazzo died suddenly on October 15, 2023 at the age of 71.

Robert was born on September 26, 1952 in Rockville Centre, Long Island, New York to parents Alfred and Vivian Ragazzo.

He graduated from Suny at Oswego with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Arts and Education and from New England College Graduate School with a Masters of Science in Education and Human Services.

Robert married his high school sweetheart Jane Quitoni, on June 1st, 1974. They would have celebrated 50 years this coming June. They followed their dreams to Newbury, NH, where he built a log home for his family. Robert was an accomplished craftsman. He could often be found working on a project or on his "Master Plan" of their 6.5 acres where he cared for fruit trees, blueberry bushes, and the land he was so proud to own.

He worked for Kearsarge Regional School district for over 38 years as a technical education teacher and coach. He shared many of those years working at Kearsarge Regional Middle School with his beloved wife.

He had a love for athletics, most importantly soccer and more recently golf. He was a coach for 38 years where he touched the lives of countless community members through his coaching of tennis, skiing, basketball, lacrosse, and predominantly soccer. Amongst other accolades, he was a two-time coach of the year and was inducted into the New Hampshire Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Kearsarge Regional High School Hall of Fame, and New Hampshire Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Robert and his wife Jane welcomed three children into their lives. His children remember him as a kind, gentle father with a sense of humor that never failed to make them all smile. He was truly an amazing father, involved in coaching and teaching all three of his children.

Robert is predeceased by his father Alfred Ragazzo and his brother Alfred Ragazzo.

I had Mr. Ragazzo as a Teacher in Middle School at Kearsarge, as well as the High School. He was a Great Guy, and a Great Teacher! Always willing to go out of his way to help. He was my "Shop" Teacher in Middle School and was my "Basic Drafting" Teacher at the High School. He was way too young to be lost. He will not be forgotten in the Kearsarge Community. My Condolences to the Family.

Jane and family, Rob was a kind man who made all students feel welcome in his classes. Mr. Ragazzo had a fun, dry sense of humor that so many KRMS faculty and students will remember. Above all, Rob spoke of his family with love; he truly cherished his loved ones.
Please know that Rob was loved in the community and made a difference.
Sending you all a hug and prayers.

Mr. Ragazzo taught my friends and me many life lessons in shop and soccer. I've always remembered a particular lesson that, "if an opponent takes the ball from you, don't just stand there and watch your teammates defend, you get it back! You should be furious!"

With love,
Isaac

Coach Ragazzo helped me build discipline, focus and skill as a goalkeeper and more so as a wild, troublemaking teen. I recall the summer he motivated me to make every early-morning practice, and the encouragement he gave me throughout my time playing for him; I still think we should've won the championship that year if not for going to the turf in Keene without our key wing. It may have taken some time, but his lessons benefited me and he lives on through them. It is sad that he has gone too early, but he's out there somewhere guiding and motivating on another level. Thank you, coach, and my condolences to the family.

I took so many shop classes with Rob as my teacher, taking Wood Working 3 twice (because no Wood 4). I still use what he taught me on a daily basis. My heart goes out to his loved ones.

I was a lucky person to have Mr Ragazzo as a teacher and ski coach. I still use the skills he taught me in high school every day to make a living. My passion for ski jumping has grown into other sports but the seed was planted on those jumping trips with Mr Ragazzo.
Thank you! May you rest in peace.

We shared so many years on Long Island going to the beach, digging for clams and just being family. The family is getting smaller all the time and I just feel the memories are all that remain and those memories are precious to me and will be for the rest of my life. I recently lost my husband and so I know, Jane, how heart felt all this can be and it just never goes away. Know how much I loved Rob and will continue to love you. Depend on your family for the support you need and know he is in God's hands. Love and hugs, Paula Ragazzo Tormey

One of the kindest guys who LOVED his family more than anything. He also loved all of us as students and a coach. I wasn’t the easiest student to deal with but he always had patience and took the time to help me learn. Now I can blast out a shaker stool like no one’s business! You’ll be missed by so many but what a beautiful legacy to leave behind. Love to you all during this difficult time.

Rob was a great person. He was thoughtful and kind. When he moved to the middle school, he showed how creative he was as a teacher and a person. His work with our children as a coach was always from his heart, and his love of athletics showed through for his players. Our thoughts are with the family, who all have touched our lives along the way.

Mr Ragazzo taught me so much about work. I was really nervous about loosing a finger he said it will be fine. He was really easy to talk about anything. I am glad I got to have him for a teacher in middle school and high school. You will be missed.
