William Higgins Obituary

HIGGINS, William James (Bill), 84, of Bow, N.H. and formerly of Northborough, Mass. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte. He leaves a son, William Jr. and wife Leslie (Johnson) of Newtown Square, Pa.; daughter, Amy Knepper and husband Randy of Bow, N.H.; five grandchildren: Bretta, William III, Kelly, Christopher, John, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by brothers Richard, Joseph, and by sisters Margaret and Mary.

Born in Boston, Mass. on July 6, 1932 to Richard Louis Higgins and Jane (Jennie) Agnes Chisholm, Bill grew up in Brighton, Mass. and graduated from Framingham State. He was employed as a credit manager at several financial institutions and completed his career as a postmaster in Round Pound, Maine. Bill served proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War, and was a longtime resident of Northborough, Mass. where he was active in town civics, having served as town treasurer, town clerk and school committee chairman. Bill volunteered for many organizations and was active in the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America Troop 1, Veterans of Foreign War, and Sons of the American Revolution.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima in Northborough, Mass. Burial will be at the Howard St. Cemetery. No visitation hours will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
