Debra Lanier Obituary

Debra Moody Lanier, lovingly known as Debi, was born on March 22, 1955, in Savannah, Georgia, a city she held dear throughout her entire life. After 70 enriching years, Debi passed away on, March 23, 2025. Her journey was one filled with faith, family, and an indomitable spirit that touched everyone she encountered.

In 1974, Debi embarked on a matrimonial journey with Ricky Lanier, her devoted partner and confidant. Together, they crafted a life rich in love and unwavering devotion. As a mother to Jamison and Jordan, Debi poured boundless love and dedication into nurturing her daughters, where laughter and compassion were abundant.

Her professional career was as impactful as her personal life. Debi dedicated 22 years to Memorial Hospital, where her exceptional work ethic was matched only by her compassion and humor, endearing her to countless colleagues. Later in her career, Debi brought her commitment to South University, where she worked until her retirement in 2022, leaving a legacy of dedication and grace. After retirement , she worked part-time at Tybrisa Beach Resort, where she continued to make lifetime friends.

Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew her. Predeceased by her parents, Jaycee Mixon and James Moody, her brother Mack Moody, and her sister Robin Crosby, Debi now rests in their loving company. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ricky, her cherished daughters, Jamison and Jordan, her beloved sister, Sherri Mixon, and three beautiful grandchildren Gavin and Lily Foreman and Bentley Lanier.

Known for her infectious laugh, quick wit, and generous spirit, Debi embraced her role as a treasured friend. With a heart of gold, she was always one to lean on, offering unwavering support and love whenever it was needed. Her vibrant personality and empathy created a tapestry of deep connections with those fortunate enough to encounter her.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit remains, a bright light guiding those she loved. Her presence in this world was a true gift, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of calling her a friend. This world will truly miss this extraordinary gem. A Celebration of Life will be held March 29th at 11am at Lake Mayer Church of Christ to honor Debi and the indelible mark she left on the world.

I worked with Debi at Memorial for several years and we reconnected in 2021 when she needed advice with her transition to Medicare. I spoke with her often and will deeply miss our conversations.
