John Hendrix Obituary

John Matthew Hendrix, 88, of Savannah, GA, died peacefully Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born February 21, 1937, in Statesboro, GA to the late Rufus and Thelma Hendrix. He graduated from Commercial High School. He worked as a millwright retiring from Kemira, American Cyanamid, after 35 years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed at the Pentagon. John's sister, Betty, introduced him to Eubie, who later became his wife.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Eubie Hendrix, son, Stephen Hendrix, daughter Angela Hendrix Wood (David), grandson Jacob, sisters Betty Hagin (Gary), Gloria Webb (Jimmy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel. The burial will be 1:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances may be made the Savannah Philharmonic, 1515 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31405, or Trinity United Methodist Church, 127 Barnard Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
