Karen Higgins Obituary

Ms. Karen Higgins, age 71, of Ellabell, Ga. passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Karen was born on October 3, 1953 in Long Island, New York to the late Arnold Joseph Higgins and the late Catherine Smith Higgins. She graduated from Windsor Forest High School and attended Armstrong State College. Working in the banking industry for many years, she retired from First Chatham Bank in 2024. Karen had a love for all animals especially her dog Bronson. She competed in Equestrian Events, Jumping and English Riding, with her horse Delta Dawn. Karen was a long time member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the choir.

Surviving family members include her brother, Michael Higgins and wife Kathleen Higgins of Mt. Dora, Fl. and sister Patricia Carney and her husband Wayne Carney of Ellabell, Ga. Niece and nephews include Allison Bynum and husband Josh Bynum of Mead, Ok., Christopher Higgins of Bunnell, Fl., Brian Carney and wife Ashley Carney with their two children Landon and Adah of Farmville, NC.

Visitation will take place at Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21st at 5:00pm followed by a memorial service at 7:00pm.

A private family inurnment will be on Friday, August 22nd at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Karen would love for you to make contributions to your local animal rescue.
