Dear Cousin Jerry, I already miss you more than I realized I would! The thought that I can't pick up the phone and hear your happy voice is really difficult to accept. Soooo many good memories: Pike Lake music parties in that tiny cabin....using the wood pile for your music stand; taking a two day break from your work in D.C to fly to St. Paul with your accordion to play at my mom's bedside during her last days; giving up your vacation time to fly to Arizona to be with me when my mom had open heart surgery. You were the brother I never had and I will always be grateful for the time we had together. Rest peacefully, sweet man!

Jerry was an amazing boss and mentor, and I just want to share one of my favorite memories of him. It was the morning of the second Obama inauguration and a few of us went down to the west side of the Capitol to see the procession of dignitaries. Security was very tight and very specific as to where we could stand, which was BEHIND THE RED ROPES. So we're all huddled BEHIND THE RED ROPES waiting for the procession to start when out of the corner of my eye I see a tall man with scruffy white hair and a briefcase walk past security, the RED ROPES, and across the red carpet. My first thought was, who's that? Of course it was none other than "Big Time Jerry" taking a stroll to meet up with his BFF's Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson to catch up on the latest gossip and compare outfits before the inauguration starts. Just another day at the office for our beloved boss and friend, "Big Time Jerry!" I'll be forever grateful to Jerry for his big heart and allowing me to be a part of such an amazing group of people.

Jerry was an original and he will be missed dearly by me, our baseball trip buddies, and all that knew and loved him. We will always remember `The Original,´ raise a glass in his memory often, and hope he saves us a good seat in that big, beautiful ballpark in the sky.
