Constance "Connie" Wells

1932 - 2017

Constance (Connie) May Wells passed away peacefully to heaven at home with her family by her side on January 21st, 2017. Born to James and Marie Brown on March 22, 1932, she lived the majority of her life in Maxwell. She married Lloyd Wells on November 13th, 1950 and together they farmed rice and raised a family. They were married 62 years, when Lloyd passed in 2013.

Connie enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, sports, camping and painting. She was a member of a bowling league for many years. She was a devoted friend, aunt, mother and grandmother. Her focus was always on her family, and she loved spending holidays together ,hunting at their foothill property, called Elmers, and camping in Chester. Her kitchen table was known as a place for good food and lively conversation. Over the years, many enjoyed driving past her home at Christmas time to enjoy her decorations and light displays.

She is survived by sons: Allen Wells (Denise), David Wells (Nita), Jerry Wells of Maxwell, Daughter: Carolyn Steele (Scott) of Paradise Ca., Brother-in-law: Ed Wells (Cheryl) of Maxwell, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, and sister June Painter.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 29th, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the McNary-Moore Chapel, 107 5th St., Colusa, CA. Funeral services are scheduled for January 30th, 1:00 p.m. at the Maxwell Baptist Church, 177 N California St., Maxwell, CA. Burial will follow at the Maxwell Cemetery. Reception will follow at the American Legion Hall on Oak Street in Maxwell.

Memorial contributions may be made in Connie's name to the Maxwell Cemetery or Maxwell Baptist Church.
