Ken Kagehiro Obituary

A lifelong Colusa resident, Ken Kagehiro was born on September 5, 1938, and died on February 5, 2018.

As a young boy during World War II, Ken, his family and 120,000 other Japanese-Americans were incarcerated in US relocation centers. This experience profoundly affected him.

Ken attended Colusa schools, then later, served in the US Army. He spent a number of years in law enforcement including gun smith for the CHP.

Ken always carried paper with him to fold traditional and original origami designs of his own. In his later years, this became his trademark. He taught classes as well as folded items to give away just to see people smile

Ken is survived by his wife, Jane (Halsey) Kagehiro; children, Kimi Marie Baxter, Lance Kagehiro, Michelle Greer; several grandchildren and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Midori and Kimi Kagehiro; and sister, Rei Durk.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, 11AM at the Buddhist Church of Marysville, 125 "B" St., Marysville. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations to the charity of your choice.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise found in 1 Thessalonians 4 : 14 can bring some comfort. Knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
